How do you choose mountaineering boots?
When choosing mountaineering boots for your next adventure, consider the terrain you will be in. What kind of climbing will you be doing? This will impact the kind of shoes you will need. Our mountain climbing footwear is extremely versatile and can be used on all types of adventures including ice climbing, mixed climbing, crevasse traverse and more. It’s also important to consider the weight of your boot for the trek and how it may affect the speed of your journey.
How do you wear climbing shoes and mountaineering boots?
Like any pair of new shoes, it is important to wear in your mountaineering boots before you take them on your next adventure! To wear in your mountaineering boots, try wearing them around the house with the same hiking socks you will be wearing on the trail. You can even walk around the block regularly to slowly wear them in and allow them to better mould to your foot.
Once you have done this, you could try taking them on a micro-adventure to test them on a small trail before your hard-hitting hikes. This should only be a 3km to 4km trail. Test them in varying conditions and on different terrains. Finally, we encourage taking your mountaineering boots on a full-day adventure to break them in before any bigger trips!
